A Points Card lets customers earn points every time they buy something and swap them for rewards you choose.
It's a great fit if you'd like to offer rewards of different sizes, such as a free coffee for 100 points or lunch for 250. This guide covers how to create the card, how customers earn and redeem points, and the settings you can fine-tune.
💡 Example: "Earn 1 point for every €1 you spend. Swap 100 points for a free coffee, or keep saving for something bigger!"
How it works
Your team scans the customer's card in the Loyaltify Store app and adds points for their purchase.
Points build up on the customer's card in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet.
Once they have enough, the customer can redeem a reward or keep saving. Only the points for the reward they choose are taken off.
Step 1: Create your Points Card
Go to Loyalty Cards and click New Loyalty Card.
Card Identifier: Give your card a name.
Loyalty Card Type: Choose Point.
Appearance: Choose a background colour or upload an image (1140 × 435 px), and a text colour that's easy to read. The Card Preview updates as you go.
Initial Points: Give new customers some welcome points, or leave it at 0 if you don't want to.
Step 2: Choose how customers earn points
Points are earned through Purchase Campaigns. Your card comes with one already, and you can edit it or add more.
Go to Campaigns and click New Campaign.
Select your Points Card and choose Purchase.
Give the campaign a name, such as "Every purchase".
Choose the amount type and click Save.
There are three amount types:
Multiplier: Points based on what the customer spends. This is the most popular choice. At 1x, customers earn 1 point for every €1. At 10x, they earn 10 points for every €1.
Fixed Amount: The same number of points every time, such as 10 points per visit. Staff can't change it.
Custom Amount: A default number of points that staff can change at the counter.
💡 Tip: Running a promotion? Add a second Purchase Campaign, such as "Double points weekend" at 2x. Your team picks the right campaign when they scan.
💡 Good to know: Amounts are rounded down, so a purchase of €22.57 earns points on €22.
Step 3: Set up your rewards
Rewards are set up as Redemption Campaigns.
Go to Campaigns and click New Campaign.
Select your Points Card and choose Redemption.
Name the reward, such as "Free Coffee".
Choose Fixed Amount to set how many points it costs, or Custom Amount to set a default your staff can change. Then click Save.
Add as many rewards as you like. Customers decide when to redeem, and there's no minimum or maximum on redemptions.
💡 Tip: Customers don't see your rewards automatically. List them in Custom Back Fields (see below) so customers know what they're saving for.

Advanced Settings (optional)
Want more control? Open Advanced Settings on your card. You don't need all of these, so pick the ones that suit your business.
Card Expiration
Turn on Enable Expiration Date and choose an Expiration option:
On the selected date: Enter a Valid Until date. The card expires on that day.
Based on card issue date: Enter a Term (a number) and a Period (days, weeks, months or years). For example, a term of 1 and a period of years gives each customer a card that lasts one year from the day they join.
To show the date on the card, add VALID UNTIL to the card layout.
If you change this later, you'll be asked whether to apply it to customers who already have the card.
To extend only one customer's card, use Edit Customer on the Customers tab and edit it directly from their profile on Loyaltify.
Point Expiration
Make points expire on a Fixed date for everyone, or a Relative time after each point was earned (for example, 12 months).
Customers get a notification automatically when their points expire. If the expired points had unlocked a reward, the reward goes with them.
💡 Want to warn customers before their points expire? Set up a Before the customer's points expire notification. See Notifications.
Earning Restriction
Limit how often a customer can earn points, such as once a day or three times a week. It limits how often, not how many points per purchase.
Card Layout
Choose what shows on the front of the card: Points, Tier, Member Info, Birthday or Valid Until.
💡 Good to know: Google Wallet doesn't show the header field, so put the points balance in the left or right field to make sure Android users see it.
Tier Program (Growth and Advanced plans)
Reward your best customers with levels such as Bronze, Silver and Gold. Each level is its own card, so it can have its own earning rate and rewards.
Create a card for each level.
Open the settings of the first card, go to Advanced Settings and enable Tier Program.
Choose the card it upgrades to and how many points are needed.
For a third level, repeat this on the second card.
Customers move up as soon as they reach the target, based on all the points they've ever earned, and get a notification on their card. Spending points never moves them back down.
Referral Program (Growth and Advanced plans)
Reward customers for bringing their friends. Choose when the reward is given (when the friend signs up, or when they first use their card) and how many points each person gets.
See Referral Program for the full guide.
Custom Back Fields
Add your own text to the back of the card, such as your list of rewards, opening hours or programme rules. Customers see it under Card Details in their Wallet.
See Custom Back Fields for examples and how they look on the card.
Feedback and External Link
Add links to the back of the card, such as your Google review page, website or menu.
Terms of Service and Support Email
Link to your own terms, which customers accept when they sign up, and add the email address customers can contact you on.
Barcode Type
Choose the code shown on the card: QR Code (recommended), Code 128, Aztec or PDF 417.
Final step: connect a sign-up form
Your card is ready! Now connect it to a sign-up form so customers can join. See Sign-up Forms.
Good to know
Points can't be passed between customers, but you can take points off one customer and add them to another with Edit Customer.
The card stores points, not the amount spent. To work out what a customer spent, divide their points by your multiplier.
Card won't save after adding links? Check whether Tier Program is turned on with a points target but no card to upgrade to. Choose the next card, or remove the target.
